On La Croix-Rousse plateau of Lyon, this restaurant, overlooking a square popular with boules’ players (hence the name), proposes authentic cuisine with a twist and, more recently, jazzed up with a few inspired Mediterranean tributes: Moroccan harira, portokalopita (a Greek, orange-flavoured pastry), etc. Meals are served in the bistro interior or on the al fresco patio, which is taken by storm as soon as the temperatures begin to rise.
