Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
This timbered 14th-century inn offers all you could want in a pub: it’s in a pretty little village; it’s got a lovely garden and terrace; there’s cosy bedrooms; the friendly staff offer a warm welcome; and, of course, the food is terrific. Choose between the tasting menu, à la carte and, for bargain hunters, the brilliantly affordable set lunch. Throughout, there is skilled cooking on display, as with the generous helping of roasted Gressingham duck accompanied by a fine red wine sauce and fermented blackberries.
